Steven’s focus today is on taking forward our market development and innovation agenda. He and his team are located close to major source markets in Asia, showing our deep commitment to the region.
As Director of INTO’s Global Recruitment Unit, Steven oversaw over 130 staff operating out of 31 regional offices in 17 countries and, thanks his leadership, INTO today attracts more than 12,000 students per year to our partners.
Steven built his career in counselling international students and developing structures to enable institutions to recruit at scale and deliver excellent student experiences. His time as an international student in Taiwan in 1990 and his experience of working in China have given him a deep awareness of the support needed by young people studying far from home.
After university, where he studied Chinese and German, Steven worked for the Anglo-Taiwan Education Centre in Taibei where he helped establish a body to promote education in the UK that resulted in an increase in the number of students travelling from Taiwan from 38 to 2,500 per year.
Prior to founding INTO with John Sykes and Andrew Colin, Steven held senior management roles within the British Council and with Study Group as their Regional Director for China.
Tuukka has some 15 years international student marketing and recruitment experience within the public and private higher education sectors.
Since March 2009, Tuukka has been a senior member of INTO’s Global Recruitment Unit, based in Brighton. As Director, Regional Offices, he provides leadership, direction and oversight with the company’s marketing and recruitment operations around the globe and in support of the overall strategy. His responsibilities cover delivering INTO's strategic aims including exceeding the enrolment and cost budgets, managing the regional sales offices and marketing and communications and business development.
Before joining INTO, Tuukka worked as an Associate Director of Recruitment and Marketing at Kaplan, where he was responsible for establishing and managing overseas recruitment offices and developing market strategies for a number of key student markets.
Prior to Kaplan, Tuukka was a Market Manager at Navitas (LIBT) group, again responsible for many aspects of sales and student recruitment in general. Previously Tuukka was a Regional Manager at Thames Valley University, where his career started.
Errim joined INTO in June 2013 and in her current role, supports a team of 22 people who are responsible for all international student recruitment activity into our UK centres and partnerships.
Errim represents the INTO recruitment arm at Joint Venture Boards with UK Partner Universities. Prior to this, she spent over year as Director of Business and Partnership (EU), which involved new business development with universities.
She has over 15 years’ experience of the international education sector, specialising in recruitment and marketing, market analysis and stakeholder management. She has held senior international positions at Durham University, where she was Deputy Director, and at Manchester Metropolitan University in the role of Director Internationalisation. Errim also served for 18 months as the Deputy Chair, Advisory Council of the Northern Consortium of UK Universities – a group of 11 universities based in the north of England.
Prior to joining the UK public education sector, Errim held senior positions with the British Council in Pakistan, Indonesia and Singapore and facilitated sales training in UK education in the Middle East, South Asia and South East Asia. She graduated from Leicester University with a degree in Business Management.
Yasmin works with INTO’s Global Recruitment Unit to drive global student recruitment to INTO partnerships in North America. Most recently, she has been leading on strategic recruitment planning across INTO’s North American partners.
Yasmin has been involved in international education for more than 15 years. She started her career as part of the international recruitment team for Kaplan English and US Pathway programs and rose to the position of Senior Manager, International Market and Development.
She joined INTO as Recruitment Director in 2010 to support recruitment to North American partners from Latin America, Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia and took up her current role in April 2014.
Yasmin is originally from Turkey and Germany, and holds a degree in Political Science from New York University.
Jeremy has more than 15 years’ experience of International higher education recruitment. He joined INTO in 2011 as Assistant Director Global Recruitment (Implementation) working with the Global Recruitment Unit where he looked after numerous projects (including the Just One More Agent Fam trips) and was responsible for reporting GRU activity to the UK JV boards.
He moved to INTO China to head up marketing and recruitment to INTO’s Chinese University partners in 2013, and in 2014 assumed overall responsibilities for operations at the campuses as well.
In 2015, Jeremy took on more business development projects for INTO alongside his INTO China role, and since 2016 has been involved in the development and launch to market of INTO’s Direct Entry proposition which he is currently interim lead on, working with John Latham, Executive Chairman.
Jeremy’s international education career started in 1998 when he joined Thames Valley University to look after the administration of TNE projects. He moved to Navitas in 2002 as Marketing Manager for their first UK centre at University of Hertfordshire. He later worked for Navitas again whilst living in Singapore for 6 years between 2006 and 2012 where he was Director of Marketing and Recruitment at Curtin Singapore.
Dan Cross oversees recruitment in China, Hong Kong and Macau. With a team of highly professional staff members based out of Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Dalian, Nanjing, and Hong Kong, Dan and his team develop recruitment channels and support services in the region for INTO's partner universities in line with the university's global objectives.
A fluent Chinese speaker, Dan has more than 10 years of experience in the international education sector where he formerly worked with Montana State University and California Community Colleges.
His own experience of studying abroad has fuelled his belief that an education experience abroad transforms lives and provides an important function as globalization spreads and demand for internationally educated citizens increases.It is his passion for giving other students access to quality institutions that provide exceptional experiences has lead him to INTO University Partnerships.
Stephen has over 20 years experience in International Education working within a wide range of cultures and countries. He joined INTO in January 2006. He currently leads a team of 23 recruitment specialists and support staff operating from six regional offices across MEASA.
Stephen has a degree in Sociology from the University of Greenwich and completed his teacher training in Paris with the ILC. He subsequently went on to build a clear insight into the needs, aspirations and counselling requirements of international students through his experience of teaching and managing English Language programmes in France, Cambodia, Colombia and New Zealand. He also spent several years in China, developing and delivering Overseas Study Preparation Programmes, honing his education counselling skills whilst working with education consultants to support students planning to study in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
In 2005 he completed an MSc in English Language Teaching Management from the University of Surrey. Committed to lifelong learning Stephen is currently in the process of completing his Doctorate in Higher Education Management with the University of Bath where his research interests include Internationalisation and branding.
Tom heads up 22 sales and marketing staff located in six offices across key cities in East Asia Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei and Jakarta.
Tom established the INTO South East Asia Representative office in Kuala Lumpur in 2006 and was instrumental in launching the INTO University Partnerships product to the agent network in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei at a time when UK pathway education was still relatively unknown.
Today Tom’s team runs events aimed at helping agents recruit students to INTO centres across the US, UK and China and the East Asia region now produces more than 1,000 students per year.
More than 15 years in international education mean that Tom has developed an extensive network of loyal education agencies. Prior to joining INTO in 2006, Tom worked as Marketing Manager at the Victorian Department of Education and Marketing Manager at Melbourne Language Centre.
He holds a degree in Arts, Town Planning/South East Asian Politics from Victoria University and various qualifications in the Indonesian language, which he speaks fluently.
Sam’s experience in international education dates back to 1998 and he has been in his current role for the past five of them. As Recruitment Director, he co-ordinates and supports regional office sales and marketing teams and agents across the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia regions in their efforts to recruit students to INTO programmes in the UK, US and China.
In his previous role, as INTO’s Regional Director Eastern Europe & Central Asia, Sam carried out business development and sales management throughout the CIS for INTO's UK, USA and Chinese pre-university preparation centres.
Prior to joining INTO, he was Study Group's regional manager for various regions and was international marketing manager for the University of Sussex International Study Centre, which ran on-campus foundation programs delivered by Study Group.
Sam has experience of UK, USA, and Canadian, Irish, Australian and New Zealand student recruitment and is a qualified EFL teacher with several years' experience teaching abroad, mainly in Russia. He holds a degree in Linguistics and French from the University of York
Simon graduated from the University of Greenwich and holds a Master’s in Marketing Management from Middlesex University. After graduating he worked as a School and College Liaison Assistant at The University of Greenwich, before moving on to the University of Northampton, where he spent two years as School and College Liaison Officer. In his next job - Marketing Officer at the University of Westminster - Simon was responsible for recruiting international students to English as a Foreign Language, law, social science and humanities programmes.
During his time as Marketing Manager for Middlesex University Business School, he also worked with the regional office in Kenya to increase recruitment from Africa. Next up was a job at Hertfordshire Institute of Business and Technology (NAVITAS), where Simon rose to Acting Director of Marketing.
Simon then became Associate Director of Marketing and Recruitment for Kaplan International Colleges, where he was responsible for managing the regional office in Pakistan and looked after markets in Africa, Europe and Pakistan. In June 2009 he created MAS Education, an agency that sends around 100 students each year to universities around the world.
Since joining INTO in May 2015, Simon has been responsible for recruitment operations across Central and Latin America
James supports INTO North America’s recruitment team as a US higher education specialist collaborating with INTO’s partner universities and the global recruitment unit to develop strategic marketing and recruitment plans together.
Before joining INTO in 2012, James worked in the international education industry for over 20 years, holding key positions with Kaplan’s English Language and Global Pathways program, Aspect International’s J-1 exchange programs, Sylvan Learning System’s Woodbury University center, EF Language School’s Alliant International University center, and San Diego State University’s American Language Institute.
James has a Bachelor’s degree from University of California San Diego in Political Science, and did his education overseas in Brussels, Belgium with Michigan State University’s International Relations program. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and is a participating member of both NAFSA and ICEF.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, David is part of the Government, Institutional Links and Sponsorship (GILS) team within INTO's Global Recruitment Unit responsible for the territories of China, East Asia and South East Asia.
David brings more than 21 years of experience to INTO, having worked previously with Study Group (for 15 years) and Navitas (for five years) in their Regional Office networks.
David manages a team of four, two of whom are in China and two in Indonesia, and is tasked with developing and implementing a regional strategy that focuses on identifying and servicing the ever growing number of in-country opportunities including English Language Training Centres, Test Preparation Centres (SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE), High Schools, Foundation and Diploma programs, articulation agreements including 2+2, and Government Organisations and Sponsors.
Born in the UK and raised in Melbourne, Australia, David is currently completing his Masters in Marketing at Griffith University, Australia.
